Sportsmen's Devotional - Permanency

Updated: Jun 13

Bible Verse/Version

“The Lord himself  goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave nor forsake you….” - Deuteronomy 31:8 (NIV)

Thoughts:

Do you have a favorite spot you go back to see over and over again because of its beauty and splendor? It’s “your spot”?  This past week, I had the chance to go for a hike in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan at one of my favorite spots - Canyon Falls.  The thing that hits me every time I hike there is that the waterfalls are still there running - every time. They just never change.  I get busy living my everyday life, and even though I don’t see them, they are still running for other people to see and enjoy too.  The permanency of these falls touches my heart. I can always go back to see them year after year.

Action Point:

And so it is with God. We often get busy in the hustle and bustle of everyday living - losing our focus with our faith at points, yet he’s always there - never leaving us - and always available.  I am so grateful for His permanency.  Maybe you’ve strayed off course recently.  Just take a moment to slow things down and pray. Talk to God and go back to that place of simple faith.

Sportsman’s Tip of the Day:

If you fish in fast moving water or rapids, attach a hiking pole to a bungee cord and tie it on to your waders.  It’ll always be there to help pick a path across the river you are in.
