Bible Verse/Version:

“...we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep.  For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.” 1 Thessalonians 4:15 - 16

Thoughts:

Today is November 13th in northern Michigan - two days before gun season starts for whitetail. Whitetail are the prized species sought after here, and people drive for hours to spend a week

or two hunting at their ‘camp’ for the big buck. For me, as a local, I get a kick out of

seeing these vacant cabins and camps come to life. There’s a hustle and bustle in the air that normally doesn’t exist in this quiet area of the state. Gas stations, restaurants, grocery stores....they all get flooded with visitors. Why the excitement in the air?  Because gun season is almost upon us.

Action Point:

As an outdoorsman, I’m sure you can appreciate this enthusiasm! For me, the anticipation also reminds me to be ready for Jesus’ second coming. We were commanded to be ready and live each day accordingly. This is not something to blow off. If we live with Jesus’ return in mind, it’ll change how we live our days - with a needed sense of urgency and purpose.

Sportsman’s Tip of the Day:

To declutter a hunting blind, drill a hole in one of the walls to run a hose for your heater, and set the propane tank outside, creating extra space inside.
